PS 185 Cultural Fair
PS 185 will celebrate the various backgrounds of our families with a Cultural Street Fair. Parent- and student-led interactive “booths” will showcase their families’ cultural origins. Featuring:
Lion Dance by UCA of Brooklyn
MS 936 Latin Dance Troupe
Cumbe African Dance Group
Performance by Freedom Dabka Group
Origami and Cultural Crafts
Face Painting Booths
Henna Booths
Community Services and Cultural Booths
And much more!
Daytime: Students Only, 9 am -1:20 pm
Evening: Family and Friends, 5 - 8 pm
Please note that Ridge Blvd will be closed from 8am - 8pm for this event.

Brooklyn Cyclones (School Spirit Night)
$15 per ticket. Payment is due May 21.
Students received a paper form in their boomerang folder. Families can also download a soft copy below. Please fill out, tear off, and return the order form to PTA c/o Main Office. Tickets will be received 7-10 days before the game date.

Spring Picture Day
Order Due Day: Monday, April 15th
Picture Day: Wednesday, April 17th
Spring pictures are generally more casual than the fall’s, so regular school day clothes, sports jerseys, etc. are fine if you so choose.
Order forms were placed in your student’s folder on April 8th.
Please fill out the student’s picture day form and send in payment by April 15th.
Only students who bring in an order form with payment by April 17th will be photographed.
There is no make-up day for Spring photos.
No class pictures will be taken.
Extra order forms are available in the Main Office.

Read-A-Thon
At PTA PS 185, our priority is to make sure that our students have the tools they need to learn and grow. We can't do that without your support. This year we are hoping for 100% participation from our families.

It only takes a minute or two, and your support will greatly assist us in meeting our goals. The main goal is to get children to read as much as they can during this period, while parents help them log the minutes read on the child's individual Read-A-Thon page. Additionally, we are hoping that families and friends will donate to support our readers and raise funds for student activities for next school year.
You should have received a flyer with instructions for parents to set up the child's page for logging in minutes and supporting our fundraiser. If any family would prefer a paper log we can provide that as well.
Please note individual reading during the school day as well as at home can be used towards the Read-A-Thon minutes.
Thank you for your help in reaching our goals to promote reading, while reaching our financial goals.

PS 185 Gala
The Gala is the biggest fundraiser for PS 185! The money raised goes back into the school to support various educational programs, school improvements, and student activities.

PICTURE RETAKE DAY!
Any children who took their picture in October, but wish to retake it should keep the class photo and bring the rest of the photo package to school on Picture Retake Day.
Any children who were absent on Picture Day in October will need to fill out a photo package form, which is available in the Main Office, and bring it with them and include payment on Picture Retake Day.
Any 5th grader who was absent on Picture Day in October will be photographed individually for the yearbook. Additionally, if you would like to purchase the cap and gown photo you will need to fill out a photo package form, which is available in the Main Office. The student should bring it with them and include payment on Picture Retake Day.
