Cultural Fair
PS 185 will celebrate the various backgrounds of our families with a Cultural Street Fair. Parent- and student-led interactive “booths” will showcase their families’ cultural origins. More info to come.

New York Liberty vs Washington Mystics at Barclays Center
Join the P.S. 185 community to celebrate Ellie’s Birthday at the New York Liberty vs. Washington Mystics game on Sunday, June 14th at 3:00 PM!
Sit with the P.S. 185 community in our Mini Section located in Section 230
✨ Special Offer: FIRST 50 FAMILIES who sign up will receive an exclusive opportunity for their child to participate in the New York Liberty High Five Tunnel Experience, where they’ll high-five the players as they take the court!

It's time for the PS 185 PTA Read-A-Thon!
Our school Read-A-Thon begins on today, April 1, 2026 and is sure to be a fun and exciting event.
We understand that your time is valuable. We also know that providing the best education for your child is important. That's why we are encouraging everyone to activate their student's Read-A-Thon account as soon as possible. The instructions are straightforward, making it quick and hassle-free, and it should take less than 5 minutes of your time.

Individual photos will be taken of children who bring a completed form and full payment.

Holiday Express
Each December, our school community comes together for the Holiday Express, an engaging, hands-on celebration of winter traditions from around the world. Parent volunteers host themed tables representing a variety of winter holidays, giving students an opportunity to explore customs and traditions from many cultures. Classes “travel” from table to table with their train tickets, take photos on our festive train, and enjoy meaningful activities at each stop.
This event will take place on Thursday, December 19, from 8:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. during the school day and is open only to students.If you’re interested in volunteering, please make sure to complete the Volunteer Sign-Up Form.

PICTURE DAY!
For Grads, Retakes, Siblings, and Absentees. Photo package order forms will be placed in your student’s take-home folder. Additional paper forms may be found online here, on the main floor at the information desk, and in the main office.
If you would like to purchase a photo package, please complete an order form and send in payment on picture day, Dec 10th.
If you would like your child’s photo re-taken, please send in the entire original photo package (except the class photo, keep that at home) on picture day.
If you would like to purchase a photo package of sibling children in the school, please complete an order form and send in payment on picture day.
Any children who were absent on Picture Day in October will need to fill out a photo package form, bring it with them, and include payment on picture day.
Any 5th grader who was absent on Picture Day in October will be photographed individually for the yearbook. Additionally, if you would like to purchase the cap-and-gown photo, you will need to fill out a grad photo package form. The student should bring it with them and include payment on picture day.

Owl Head Park Tree Lighting & Caroling
Join P.S. 185 and the Bay Ridge Community for a special holiday event!
What: Owl’s Head Park Christmas Tree Lighting
P.S. 185 4th and 5th grade students will be caroling! Join us for a celebration with Santa, D.J Justice, carolers, local performers, tasty snacks and gifts for the kids.
When: Wednesday, December 3rd at 6 pm.
Where: Owl’s Head Park, 68th Street and Colonial Road Park House

Key Dates
November 14th - 26th: Food Drive for the Salvation Army
December 1st - 17th: Toy Drive and Angel Tree collection for the Salvation Army
December 1st - 19th: Toiletry Drive for the 4th Avenue Community Food Drive.
Our Food Drive!
Let’s feed the hungry in our community by partnering with our neighbors at the Salvation Army! Please consider bringing non-perishable food items for donation (canned goods and pasta preferred) now through November 25th. Boxes to place your donation are in the school lobby.
The Toy Drive & Angel Tree Program
Please leave unwrapped new gifts in the collection box in the main lobby.
This year P.S. 185 will also participate in The Salvation Army Angel Tree program.
If you would like to participate in this:
Choose a tag from the tree in the main lobby.
The tag will include a child’s information with their wish list item (e.g., clothing size, toy requests).
Return unwrapped gifts (labeled with the Angel Tree tag number) to the school.
The Salvation Army will distribute them to Bay Ridge families.
3rd Annual Toiletry Drive
Partnering with the Community Food Pantry to help those in need in our neighborhood!
Each grade is designated to collect the following items):
KINDERGARTEN: HATS/MITTENS
1ST: BRUSHES/COMBS
2ND: TOOTHBRUSHES/MOUTHWASH/FLOSS
3RD: SOAP/BODY-WASH/DEODORANT
4TH: SHAMPOO/CONDITIONER
5TH: FOOD POP-TOPS (cans that open without can opener) & CHICKPEAS, SAUCE, OATMEAL
DONATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED FROM DECEMBER 1st- DECEMBER 12th.
